TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing
Atlanta United have acquired midfielder Giuliano Galoppo on loan from Argentine powerhouse River Plate, the club announced Wednesday.
The 27-year-old Argentine's loan is through June 2027 and includes a purchase option.
“Giuliano is a dynamic midfielder who has a good tactical understanding of the game, quality on the ball and the ability to contribute goals from midfield,” said Chris Henderson, Atlanta's chief soccer officer and sporting director.
“He can play multiple positions in midfield and will raise the level of competition within the group as we continue to strengthen our roster heading into the final stretch of the season."
Galoppo has spent the last two seasons with River Plate, where he's tallied 8g/1a in 48 appearances across all competitions.
He began his career with boyhood club CA Banfield before joining Brazilian giants São Paulo. In total, he's recorded 39g/8a in just under 200 professional appearances.
Atlanta currently sit 13th in the Eastern Conference with 21 points. They're four points outside of the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs places.
