Goals by two of Major League Soccer's youngest and brightest stars helped lift the US men's national team to a 3-0 win over arch-rivals Mexico on Saturday night at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
Red Bull New York's Julian Hall and the Philadelphia Union's Cavan Sullivan both found the net as the USMNT made it three straight victories during this expanded international window.
Hall continued the red-hot start to his USMNT career, scoring in his third consecutive match. The 18-year-old capitalized on a blunder by Mexican goalkeeper Raúl Rangel, knocking in a rebound to put the Yanks up in the 28th minute.
Sullivan then became the youngest-ever USMNT goalscorer, intercepting Rangel's attempted clearance and lobbing over the goalkeeper from distance to double the lead in the 63rd minute.
The insurance goal came just after Diego Kochen rose up to parry away a Roberto Alvarado volley in the 58th minute, a shot that would have leveled for El Tri.
Malik Tillman put the icing on the cake for the USMNT five minutes from full time against a Mexico side that finished with 10 men after Mateo Chávez's straight red card in the 68th minute.
